Big Brands Sign Up To The Big Screen Portsmouth

When I first started in the role as Producer of the Big Screen Portsmouth, my initial presentation outlined a strategy that allowed for big corporate brands to utilise the screen as an advertising platform while keeping space for local businesses too. There's a 50/50 available split in place.

After struggling to contact many of the brands initially, we did manage to find several national advertising agencies who were well connected. It was important to me however, that these agencies understood what we were looking for in terms of clients and financial expectations but also, that they understood how our screen worked in that, it's not just and advertising billboard on loop. For the agencies, they wouldn't just be taking on one screen either, but that they would in fact have the opportunity to sign up to 7 others across the country.

We ended up finding a fantastic agency who have been nothing but a delight to work with. They understand our needs and they work very closely with some of the big clients, such as Honda, Microsoft, Guinness, Cadbury's etc. You can see a selection of the previous clients we've worked with below in the images.

So much so, that some of our clients have ended up supporting some of the big events we work on throughout the year at the Big Screen where we've developed a business to business relationship that works out well for both parties. In some case, financial backing has been provided to help cover costs for our "free" events in exchange for marketing or even, some companies have provided us with giveaways to the general public, also for use at some of our events. Cadbury's being one of them.

All of this leads and supports my initial ambition at the Big Screen of bringing on bigger brands to advertise on the screen. I wanted there to be a more professional approach to our advertising slots to make them seem more appealing to the local businesses in Portsmouth.

The Big Screen Portsmouth is a self-sustaining project, meaning that no council tax is used to fund it. The more I develop our advertising strategy, the more likely the screen will remain in place, providing a great entertainment and showcase platform for the community.
