Thoughts On Marvel, Frozen, Moana Announced As Part Of Multi-Year Expansion For Hong Kong Disneyland
Okay, huge news for Hong Kong Disneyland as Disney is set to expand the park to include new areas that feature Marvel, Frozen and Moana along with new renovations on the Sleeping Beauty Castle that will see brand new nighttime and daytime spectaculars.
I mean, look at how impressive that concept art looks. This is huge.
rom the photo that's been posted, it looks as if the traditional Tomorrowland will be transformed into the Marvel themed area which is a great idea, considering how hard it is for Disney to continually update and refresh a "Tomorrowland". It's partly the reason you no longer see Tomorrowlands featuring in new Disney parks, such as Shanghai Disneyland as well as Disneyland Paris.
Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and whose job I want, announced today,
Next January, the new Iron Man experience opens in the park and it seems Disney want to continue perusing this beloved franchise to create an entire Marvel themed area. Marvellous news.
A brand new land for Frozen was also announced. This interests me a lot as they've recently opened a brand new Frozen themed attraction, Frozen Ever After, in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida. With the opening of the new ride, it started with many technical difficulties and with the added IP into the park, it had some bad press online. Though now looking at it, it's possibly one of the most favourite attractions in that park and this is why I think Disney will do well in investing in a Frozen themed area, especially as it'll be the only one in Asia. The new land in Hong Kong will feature a Frozen attraction aimed at all ages and will also include dining and entertainment experiences set in the film's location, Arendelle.
I don't know about you, but I am so excited for the next Disney animation release, Moana. You know Disney are excited for a film when they announce that a daytime stage show inspired by the movie is coming to their parks... before the movie even hits the global box office! Moana's Village Festival will be heading to Adventureland on top of all the other announcements.
Finally, and for me the biggest announcement of them all, is the transformation of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. It will soon be able to offer both daytime shows and new nighttime spectaculars. Just look at the concept art at the top of this article and tell me that doesn't look exciting with it's colourful water displays and characters all on stage, ready to perform.
These new experience are due to be completed between 2018 - 2023. The Hong Kong Government are currently evaluating the proposals and there will be further information released soon.
